Retail

Blackpool town centre is at the heart of Britain's most popular seaside resort combining a shopping experience with a vibrant entertainment offer and some of the UK's best known tourist landmarks.

The ongoing redevelopment of the town centre is a key part of Blackpool's regeneration works.

Key projects include:

Houndshill

The town centre has a fantastic retail offer in the form of its Houndshill Shopping Centre. The recent improvements to the centre have greatly improved the retail offer within the town centre.

Anchored by a Debenham's department store, the vibrant centre now holds an array of popular high street stores such as H & M, River Island, Primark & Faith.

Talbot Gateway

A £220m scheme that will transform the Talbot Road area. If funding is secured it will turn this part of town, around the bus station into an attractive, pedestrian-friendly civic and cultural quarter, incorporating a new food store, civic offices, shops, cafes and restaurants.

St John's Precinct

St John's Precinct is an important public space in the centre of Blackpool.

Recent improvements have been made to this part of town including the creation of a pedestrianised piazza along with new planting, paving and lighting to attract and enhance the character, appearance and atmosphere of the area.

Regeneration By Light

Phase I of the Regeneration by Light scheme incorporated a welcoming beacon at the top of Blackpool Tower along with architectural lighting outside of the town hall.

Phase II consisted of the installation of an exciting all year round illuminations spectacle within the town centre, culminating in a centrepiece sound and light show in Birley Street.

The development of this town centre lighting scheme aims to encourage visitors to explore the town centre and provide additional trading opportunities to the local business community.

Town Centre Business Improvement District

In October 2005, Blackpool Town Centre established the first Business Improvement District in the North West.

It is a partnership of around 750 town centre businesses and organisations working for the improvement of business and the environment for the benefit of all.
