Blackpool is the UK's largest and most important coastal resort, and has a celebrated reputation for innovation.
The economy of the town is, like many coastal towns, dependent on tourism.
However, the pace of decline in visitor numbers, average visitor spend and duration of stay is accelerating.
In order to address that decline, Blackpool Council is working with various partners and local stakeholders to deliver transformational change to the overall quality of the visitor experience.
The vision is to re-establish Blackpool's national and international reputation as a world-class destination that is fun, entertaining, exciting and successful.
|
To do that, a concerted and collaborative effort is required to:
- Restore a positive image of Blackpool to create a sense of pride
- Establish a real sense of a fun, but safe destination for everyone who visits, lives and works in Blackpool
- Improve the quality of service and value for money for the visitor economy as a whole
- Refresh the current tourism product and service delivery via investment and a better skilled and better motivated workforce
- Create new attractions and experiences that will attract visitors and residents alike
- The visitor economy is made up of spending on attractions, festivals, sport and cultural activities, as well as accommodation, food, drink and retail
- For that to succeed, everyone within the town must be committed to delivering a quality experience for visitors and residents alike.
